So I decided to switch it up a little and take on a machine that Mr. Muraguri (a potato farmer from Central Kenya) will want to read. So my good friends at Toyota Kenya just launched the Hilux 2016 and it’s basically nothing short of spectacular.

On the outside

There are 9 colour options of the exterior: Super White II, Silver Metallic, Dark Grey Mica Metallic, Black Mica, Super Red 2, Grayish Brown Metallic, Dark Green Mica Metallic, Blue Metallic & Silky Brown MM. I was struck by her eyes, the halogen headlamps on that baby looking straight into your eyes; I kid you NOT… you’ll melt.  Then how the Front and Rear Mudguards just protrude from the wheels… DIVINE!

The only word that can describe the styling on the rear bumper; Aerodynamic. The large multireflector combination makes you clearly visible from afar. Cargo space is sufficient for Mr. & Mrs. Muraguri who both want to ferry potatoes into the CBD without a struggle. The tray hooks avoid peeps and unwanted stares into what they are carrying around and across town. The stereo is pretty clear thanks to the Bee Sting Aerial that on Roof top. Perfect reception redefined.

On the inside

It’s crazy how I got into the car the keyless way and had a moment (of silence, head spinning, I felt like a new person all together, The Motie Guy had been reborn). The Ergonomically Designed Cabin with handcrafted leather interior got my mind blown!

The Seats had an extremely attractive Material Fabric I couldn’t let go of. I could see a glove box, it had lock. Finally, Mr. Muraguri can hide some cash from the Mrs. For coffee lovers (and addicts like I am) the cup holders are right there to hold on to your liquid. The centre console for your random stuff in the car and it has a lid as well, good thing is that it doesn’t come between you and your shifting of gears (that thing bothers me so much, argh!)

The cigarette lighter & ash tray are so inviting you’d be tempted to be a smoker! (True story) then the air conditioner makes it easier to get through Nairobi’s unpredictable weather patterns. For safety, there are provisions for Driver and Passenger Airbags, side Impact beam on doors and ABS. Mr. Muraguri will most definitely enjoy his Mugithi tunes thanks to the AM/FM/ Radio & CD/ MP3 Player + 2 Speakers.

The Hilux runs on a 1998cc Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) petrol engine churning out 100kW/5,600rpm power and 182Nm/4,400rpm of Torque. 5 Speed Manual Transmission. 2WD. The correct tires for the Hilux (205/ 70R 15\\\” 6jj-Steel). With 80 litres of fuel capacity and a gross weight 2,625 Kg.  Front brakes ventilated discs with rear brakes trailing drum. Suspension on the front Double Wishbone Independent Suspension with Coil while on the rear Springs rigid axle and leaf springs.
